Create a Wi-Fi QR Code for Guests

Typing a Wi-Fi password on a guest’s phone is slow and error-prone, especially when the password is long and random. This tool builds the standard string that phone cameras understand (WIFI:T:...;S:...;P:...;;) and turns it into a QR code. Set the network name, the password and the security type (WPA/WPA2, WEP or an open network) and the code appears immediately; special characters such as semicolons and colons in the name or password are escaped automatically so the code stays valid. Print it and stick it on the table or the wall. Remember that the password is embedded in the image, so do not leave it where unintended visitors can see it, and regenerate the code whenever the password changes.

This tool runs entirely in your browser. No data is sent to any server.

How to use it

  1. 1

Enter the network name (SSID) exactly as it appears on a phone.

  2. 2

Set the password and security type; choose “no password” for an open network.

  3. 3

Test it by scanning with a phone, then print it.

Frequently asked questions

Which phones can read it?

iOS 11 and Android 10 onwards read Wi-Fi codes natively and offer to join the network. Older phones just show the text.

Is the password readable in the code?

Yes, anyone who scans it sees the password. This code is not a way to hide it, only to avoid typing it.

Does it matter if the network is 5 GHz or a guest network?

No, the code only carries the name and password, not the band. If your guest network has its own name and password, build the code for that one.
